Looking at the essence of the world around you, through the lens of a camera.

Street Photography

The process behind these photos was to showcase public areas where people frequent. Had to have photos with people’s faces shown. Public businesses or private property were not allowed, as daytime outdoor shots were only allowed.

I had taken these photos in areas I frequent a lot. From having photos taken at our local parks, to in front of our grocery stores, or even our gas stations. I wanted to showcase how busy the area of town I live in is.

These photos were taken during while attending Mesa Community College, in class AVC 142 Into to Digital Photography.

Self-Portraits

"The simple definition of a self-portrait is a picture of oneself. Selfies can also be described as such; however, there’s a clear difference between the two. Self-portraits are carefully composed, well-thought-out, and meant to create a lasting impression of yourself. Selfies are usually taken quickly with a smartphone camera and deleted if unsatisfactory." (https://skylum.com/blog/self-portrait-photography-ideas-and-tips)

This project we implored to express our inner thoughts and outward surroundings by photographing ourselves that are both revealing in come capacity and meaningful. With this assignment we could think outside of the box, by using different lighting techniques or using props to showcase ourselves. The project was expected to be cathartic, exciting, and also uncomfortable at times as were now the ones before the camera.

I did this by taking photos of myself doing things that I love to do. By having objects of things, I really love incorporated into the photograph to really show my true personality off.

Open Idea

This assignment we were allowed to have an “Open Idea”, where the artist/photographer/student will pursue content that is driven by a specific idea/concept. The project allowed us to think beyond our comfort zones at times and seek out a variety of ideas and subjects that both motivate and appeal to us.

My concept was based on David J. Eisenlord, who has done outdoor photos in black and white. They felt very surene and calming, or gave a sense of excite. I wanted to convey that in my own photos, which I did by taking a nature walk and focusing my photography on the different trees and their forms along it.
